Background
Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) or carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5) targeting BiTE is an artificial bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE). It enables a patient’s T cells to recognize malignant B cells. A molecule of CEA-targeting BiTE combines two binding sites: a CD3 is part of the T cell receptor and a CEA site for the target B cells as a tumor antigen.
CEA/CD3-bispecific T cell-engaging BiTE is composed of a humanized single-chain antibody recognizing CEA expressed by colorectal, pancreas, and other epithelial malignancies, and a de-immunized single-chain antibody specific for human CD3ε.
