DNA aptamer against N-terminal Propeptide of B-type Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP)
Background
N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a protein that helps regulate blood pressure, blood volume, and sodium balance. It’s a key component of the B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) hormone, and both are produced by the heart when it’s working harder to pump blood. NT-proBNP is used as a diagnostic tool to help detect heart failure and acute decompensated heart failure. It’s also a risk factor for atrial fibrillation and stroke, as cardiac dysfunction is linked to stroke.
