DNA aptamer against Apolipoprotein E3
Background
Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is a protein that helps the body metabolizes fats and cholesterol. ApoE combines with fats to form lipoproteins, which transport cholesterol and other fats through the bloodstream. ApoE also helps repair injuries in the brain. ApoE is a genetic factor in several health conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular diseases and viral infections. The APOE gene has multiple alleles, or slightly different versions, with the most common being E3.
