Background
Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) is a toxin produced by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus that can cause food poisoning and other health issues. SEB exposure can cause flu-like symptoms, including fever, chills, headache, sore throat, and muscle pain. Symptoms usually appear 4–10 hours after swallowing SEB, or 3–12 hours after breathing it in.
